Plant type : Annual Description: This plant has a very nice contrast with green upper leaves, and dark burgundy/red veins and stem. The flower petals are a light pinkish purple with approximately 10+ very aromatic petals. Hummingbirds in Michigan are very attracted to this plant. This plant may grow ½'wide, 10-30' tall Zone:1-11 Uses: Hyacinth Bean vines are used for background color on trellises along bordered plants. Their dark purple/maroon like color ads depth and contrast. Hummingbirds are also attracted to the purple flowers that blossom in the summer. Propagating: Harvest bean pods when pods have turned from dark purple to brown. Plant beans in early spring just after last frost. Planting depth, approximately ½-1" in depth.
