Butterfly Weed

Description: Gorgeous cluster of reddish orange florets produce a large quantity of nectar which attracts butterflies & an abundance of wildlife to your backyard. Grows to 2½-3' Part of the Milkweed family. Requires a very well drained sandy or gravelly soil in full sun. Butterfly Weed may take up to two years to become established from seed. 

Uses: Beautiful in a perennial border

Propagating: Harvest seed pods when they are golden brown, usually in late fall. Sow seeds in coldframes in spring or fall. Germination begins in 10 days but keep moist.
